Synchronization with the sun

When it comes to having more energy and more focus during the day, as well as higher vibration (joy and presence), the synchronization with the sun can bring incredible results.

According to Ayurveda, each part of the day carries a stronger energy of one of the Doshas:

  • Vata Energy is more dominant during 2-6 a.m. and pm., during which the vata energy is higher, meaning that these qualities could be taken into an advantage to create or participate more actively with life.  Vata, when balanced brings creativity and connection to Spirit, to the Vastness of Existence. In the ancestral indigenous traditions, whenever they have a situation they need to address, something that requires conversation, they would wake up around 3-4 a.m., they would light a fire (they would normally have an ever-running wood fire stove and converse the situation out. These times particularly in the mornings are best for spiritual practices and in the afternoon better for conversation or for artistic expressions. It is best to plan dinner (the smallest meal of the day, ideally something soupier) around 5-7 p.m., towards the end of the afternoon, and best if it is Vata balancing, so soups are ideal.  This time is also considered the best for waking up.  Vata is ongoing, active, creative, humorous, and Kapha. (6-10 a.m. and p.m.) is slow, sluggish, dull, and loving.  So which energy do you wish to be permeating your day with?
  • Pitta Energy is more predominant between 10-2, a.m. and p.m.  This is when the heat is stronger, this refers to all heat, intellect, digestive fire, and power to detoxify the body.  Lunch definitely is the most important meal of the day.  Ayurveda does agree very much with what is now known as intermittent fasting.  Following this line of thought, then brunches work really well, particularly if you are not that hungry in the morning.  If a person does wake up early (Vata time before the sunrise), they could probably get hungry around 8 a.m., so depending on your body type and state of your digestion (this is an important factor to take into consideration), you might want to fast until brunch time (if done then dinner time around 5-7 will make more sense) and you could get stronger digestion over time (which is the goal of the Self-Healing Journey Program).
At night, Pitta time is for sleeping, although at this time you could easily get a second air and get creative and determined (pitta qualities), use this heightened energy to your body’s advantage so it can take care of itself.  This is an Ayurvedic secret to longevity, which used to be the norm in humans before modern times arose in which we are constantly distracted.
  • Kapha energy is more predominant between 6-10 a.m. and p.m.  During the mornings, having a relatively early breakfast is best (7-8 a.m.) and then since you woke up with the Vata energy, you move through the morning swiftly but grounded (Kapha), if you wake up later in the morning (7-9 a.m.) then there is a higher chance that it will be more difficult to get going and to plan your day, instead you would be “chasing” the day, rather than creating your day.  Breakfast is the second important meal of the day. So make sure that your breakfast is not huge and very hard to digest (follow the Laws of Food Combination), eat some fruit first, maybe a smoothie or a juice.
At night, this time is for unwinding, slowing down, enjoying time with family and relatives, as well as digesting dinner, and going to sleep deliciously.  The part of unwinding is normally not part of most people’s lives.  Eating dinner too late, or if this meal is too large, then it could make you to have difficulties with deep sleep.

Blessings always,
