"My story is about dreaming… After an accident that took both my legs, around the age of 21, I’ve been wearing prosthesis legs for the last 25 years while I gained a medical degree. I think talk therapies are very important but sometimes they are not enough. We actually need the connection to our felt experience in the body and to be with what is uncomfortable. The retreat was for me about experiencing healing. It was emotionally challenging diving so deep and fast in parts of my own emotional world, which remained blocked and numb over the years. Feeling the African sun on my skin, hearing the sound of the waves, watching the blue of the ocean, and experiencing the emotions of others, reaching my own emotional borders through the bodywork, allowed me to come into alignment with the strength I developed inside. The retreat brought me to a new more harmonious version of myself. A kind of peace spreads inside and I feel the determination to reach out for external goals, this time out of a more stable base. Being in such a small, intimate group of women where we feel free to express our emotions and go to the edges of our comfort zones was amazing. Cabo Verde consists of 10 gorgeous islands just off the coast of Senegal in West Africa and is famous for its warm tropical climate, volcanic islands, wonderful music, and delicious cuisine. It’s as close to heaven as it gets.

Sal is one of Cabo Verde’s magical islands where time stands still and people connect with you through their hearts and souls. Time has a different meaning in Sal or as the locals like to call it – “No Stress Cabo Verde.” And that is exactly what you will feel. The island life transports us to another world. We will use the magic of Sal to learn how to live differently and how to connect deeply.

You’ll stay in comfort because you deserve the pampering while you leave your comfort zone. Great food, seaside living, and above all, great hosts await you on this island paradise.

On top of stunning golden sandy beaches and breathtaking views, you’ll find culinary delights sure to feed your soul as much as your stomach. Just-caught fish and seafood with an abundance of fresh produce abound at local restaurants. Your taste buds will be spoiled.

Don’t be surprised if the woman at reception is also the waitress in the restaurant at some point. It’s part of the charm. There is a restaurant with great food (Spanish, Japanese, and Cape Vardian cuisine) at the hotel itself, yet we are a 10-minute walk from Santa Maria beach where powdery sand meets turquoise water and music pours from beachside bars.

With sunshine 350 days of the year, you can bet the weather will be perfect in November and you’ll be able to indulge, sunbathe, and swim at sea.

What a soul nourishing experience. Having had done quite a bit of one-on-one somatic work with Chen, I went into the retreat looking to deepen the soft, grounded, and more feminine way of being I had discovered for myself through our work together. It turned out to be so much more - there was something truly magical about joining a retreat with other women on journeys of their own, meeting your edges in a safe held space led by Chen, and doing it all in a gentle beautiful location like Cabo Verde where you have no choice but to slow down, be present, and connect. The retreat was a wonderful combination of stillness and movement, connection and fun, held space and release, reflection and breakthroughs. I left feeling transformed - much more relaxed in my body, connected to myself and others, my heart open and soft, and grounded in it all - and with the “felt” experience in my nervous system as well as practical guidance on how to continue to embody this in my daily life.

How to get there

You’ll fly into Sal Island in Cabo Verde (airport code SID) and take a short taxi ride to the hotel, which sits right on the water.

In total 32 airports around the world have direct flights to Sal, Cabo Verde, spread around 31 cities in 12 countries. There are direct flights to Cabo Verde from Lisbon that take only 4 hours and many connecting flights into Lisbon from most major airports.

Prerequisite: To be considered for this retreat you must complete either 3 months of 1:1 coaching with Chen Lizra or be a graduate of our Group Witnessing Program for practitioners and leaders, where we develop the emotional foundation needed for this retreat. Limited to 10 participants!

The retreat was life changing. I went there to help rediscover my femininity and playfulness. Being in a community of such amazing and supportive women allowed me to relax deeper into healing. I had a good foundation with the videos from the online program but doing the exercises in-person with Chen really helped me adjust and refine how I move. It is always surprising how changing my posture changes how I feel. Cabo Verde is a beautiful place with such a relaxed energy. It’s a place you can step away from the busyness of life and focus on your intentions for the program. I would recommend this retreat to any woman who is ready to break through old habits and stagnation to make lasting changes.
